tuput is an independent magazine covering history, travel, technology, and the world around us. We take one thing seriously above all: what we publish should be interesting and true. Here's how we try to earn your trust.

We research before we write

Every article starts with real research, not a quick skim. We read primary sources and reputable references — encyclopedias, official institutions (NASA, UNESCO, UN bodies, universities), peer-reviewed work, and established news outlets — before we write a word.

We cite our sources

Factual claims are backed by a "Sources & further reading" list at the foot of each article, with links so you can check our working and go deeper. If we can't source a claim to something credible, we cut it.

We're honest about uncertainty

History and science are full of debate. When something is contested — a disputed figure, competing theories, an estimate rather than a fact — we say so, attribute it to whoever made the claim, and let you make up your own mind. We don't dress opinion up as settled fact.

We don't fabricate

No invented quotes, no made-up statistics, no fake studies. AI tools help us draft and research, but a human directs every piece, and accuracy always beats a good-sounding line.

We fix mistakes

We get things wrong sometimes — everyone does. When we do, we correct it promptly and note significant changes. Spotted an error? Please tell us at [email protected] and we'll act on it fast.

No clickbait we can't cash, no walls of filler, no dark patterns. We write to be read — clearly and honestly — and we'd rather publish one piece worth your time than ten that aren't.
